GOODNA created history with both its senior teams progressing to the Brisbane Subdistricts rugby union grand finals in 2008.
To get to the Grand Final the Gladiators' A-grade team was victorious over minor premiers Pine Rivers 29-22, while Goodna's Reserve-grade side beat Beenleigh 13-8, both at Ballymore.
In a tight Grand Final against Easts Longhorns at Ballymore, The Goodna Gladiators took the Barber Cup for 2008. In a game that was a complete turnaround to the July loss to the Longhorns (5 - 20) the Goodna pack laid the platform for a tight but convincing 15 - 10 victory. Coach Heta Pamatatau breather a deep sigh of relief as the final siren rang and was also rewarded for a great coaching effort.
In the Peggy Cup, Beenleigh turned the table on the Goodna outfit to take out the Grand final 15 -8. The Gladiators missed some great opportunities to let Beenleigh get home in a rugged encounter.
With a great season behind them, the Gladiators are ready to prove their supremacy again in 2009. Well done gentlemen!
MORE ABOUT THE GLADIATORS!

Goodna Rugby is a community based club that provides a safe and professional environment for children to come and enjoy themselves. Our young players are coached in a highly structured manner with an emphasis on developing motor skills and personal growth in a team environment.
In our area there a no sheep station to loose so the emphasis is on fun. At Goodna Rugby we look to develop junior player skills ensuring that they have every opportunity to maximise their opportunities in our great game of rugby union. We are indeed fortuinate that there is a pathway from the junior teams through to our senior teams.
Senior teams play in the Brisbane competition and over the past few years have been highly successful in winning three (3) premierships. As opposed to the juniors, the senior teams are looking for the sheep station to loose - or win!
At Goodna Rugby, we have a wonderful fraternity where mates look after mates - both big and small! We are a proud club that delivers much enjoyment to the community, players, parents and supporters.
